I’m SHOOKETH!

After months of being teased…. it is here! Fenty Beauty by Rihanna launched today and I had to get my hands on it!

Bad Girl RiRi has blessed us with a beauty line sold exclusively at Sephora stores and on the Beauty by Fenty website. All these years you have wanted to look like Rihanna, well here is your chance to try.

All these years you have wanted to look like Rihanna, well here is your chance to try.

This 100% cruelty free line features 40 shades of foundations, 6 highlight duos, 19 highlight and contour shades, 10 shimmer sticks, anti- shine primer, blotting powder+sheets, makeup brushes and a lip gloss to top it all off.

If Rihanna can come out with 40 shades of foundation with the first launch of her brand… the rest of these brands need to catch their lives and step it up!

Rihanna has set new the standard for all makeup brands, because if a brand isn’t coming out with at least 20 foundation shades then what are you doing with your life?

I had the chance to stop into my local Sephora and purchase some of the products from her line and I hope to get a few more items down the road.

In the store I got color matched with a foundation, concealer, and contour stick and actually tried everything on in store. I was one of the first people in the store so I could take full advantage of getting a real first impression of her products before purchasing.

First, the Product Consultant used the color matching device to check my undertones to match me to the perfect shade. After playing around with a few, I settled on the shade 410, which is a deep shade with cool undertones.  I was a bit shocked because the majority of my other foundations have a warm undertone and in the color matching device I read as a warm undertone as well, but the color matched and that’s what matters.

Impression:

* I had a clean fresh face, with moisturizer and eye cream on already.

I used the Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Primer, which is the primer featured in the line. This primer claims to be a ” Shine-stopping, pore-diffusing primer that smooths the way for better foundation application and longer wear with an instant retouch effect.
When paired with Pro Filt’r Foundation, this oil-free primer smooths away the look of pores, visibly evens skin tone and texture, and instantly absorbs shine without feeling dry or chalky. ”

-According to the Sephora website

On first application of the primer, it has a sticky texture that easily seeps into the skin. What’s funny is that it makes the areas that should be matte, matte and the areas you want to highlight, dewy. After 1-2 minutes I applied the foundation (one side with a brush and the other with her makeup sponge). The foundation claims to be ” A soft matte, a long-wear foundation with buildable, medium to full coverage, gives skin an instantly smooth, pore-diffused, shine-free finish that easily builds to medium to full coverage. The oil-free formula is made with climate-adaptive technology that’s resistant to sweat and humidity, and won’t clog pores so that wherever you are, it’s going to work on your skin. Best of all, this long-wearing, light-as-air texture is undetectable on skin—so you always look like you.”

OMG, this foundation was super smooth, light weight and with 2 pumps I was able to get high medium coverage. A lot of my hyperpigmentation was covered and my face looked healthy. It dried down to a satin, matte finish with a subtle glow and looked like skin. Since I have oily skin I ALWAYS set/bake my face with a powder but with this foundation, I didn’t feel that I needed to.

Next, she matched me to a Match Stix in a shade for concealing and contouring (Walnut and Truffle).

Impression:

I will be completely honest, I wasn’t a fan of the stick concealer.  It was a matte formula in a stick and I felt that it was dragging on my skin and would take off my foundation. It blended out beautifully with her Precision Makeup Sponge, but I still wasn’t 100% about purchasing it. I then tried on the contour shade and it was very creamy and blended out with ease and dried just like the foundation. I have never tried a contour stick that kept its color and didn’t create patches on my skin like this one. 10/10 would recommend! Also, the packaging is magnetic, so you can travel with them and you won’t lose them!

After, concealing and contouring I used the Invisimatte Blotting Powder to set my under eyes and all the places I highlighted.

Finally, the part I had been most excited about…HIGHLIGHT! Rihanna launched these highlighters duos and singles called Killawhat Freestyle Highlighter they come in 10 shades and are stunning!

I used Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule.Which is a duo of a soft copper sheen and supercharged copper shimmer, let me just tell you…I WAS SHOOKETH?! They are creamy, pigmented, easily blendable and the colors are (I need more synonyms for beautiful) alluring!

I used the combo on my left cheek and used the color Trophy Wife on the other. Trophy Wife is Rihanna’s favorite and is a 3D hyper-metallic gold. Trophy Wife is also beautiful, but I felt I would get more use out of Ginger Binge and Moscow Mule. I want to add Trophy Wife to my collection soon.

Once I finished with the face I added on the Gloss Bomb in the shade universal, and if anyone knows me, they know I am a gloss girl! This gloss is my new staple, I couldn’t believe how smooth and shiny it was. The gloss does have a scent that reminds me of candy (unfortunately, it doesn’t taste like it) and it isn’t sticky.

Overall, I am super impressed with this line! The packaging is easy to travel with and has a luxurious feel without breaking the bank. The whole line is priced at $40 or lower which is cost effective for us out here who can’t spend thousands of dollars on makeup. The only thing I wasn’t impressed with was the concealing stick, which isn’t any fault of the line, I am just not a fan of it. Everything else was amazing and I can’t wait to try them out again and wear the look throughout the day. The Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Longwear Foundation is my new go -to foundation!

Rihanna has made beauty history today and I appreciate her inclusion of everyone. I am not sure why it has taken so long for the beauty industry to finally have a line that caters to all skin tones. With 40 shades, there is no way you can’t find your shade!

I ended up purchasing the foundation, primer, contour stick, blotting powder, makeup sponge and lip gloss.

If you have a chance go to your local Sephora and check it out! I want to hear all about it in the comments down below!

xoxo,
