Me, along with millions of girls and boys have oily skin. Oily skin can be very irritating but I have a list of products that help to combat our oily skin. Before we dive in, let’s first understand why our skin is the way it is.

Having oily skin is both a blessing and a curse. The oil your skin helps keep your skin moisturized, but if your body produces an excess of oils. This excess can cause acne breakouts and creates a lovely country of Oilentina. However, there is a silver lining to having oily skin — oil keeps skin smooth and moist, making your skin less likely to wrinkle.

Most times, having oily skin can be purely hereditary, but most times having oily skin can result in heightened hormone levels. Which is why when you are going through puberty and on their menstrual cycle (or pregnant) you’re more likely going to have a breakout. Also having oily skin can be a result of what you eat.

“Eating clean= clean face”, if you eat a lot of sugars and drink a lot of sodas your oily skin can result from that.

Now relax, I’m not saying you have to cut out all sugars and sodas, just be mindful of the things you are consuming.

Remember how I said oily skin was a curse? Well, since oil is produced by your sebaceous glands then secreted through pores, if you secrete excess oil, there’s not much you do to stop it. You can, however, control your oily skin. There are cleansers, astringents and other treatments that can help keep your face from being Oil city. However, when using these products you need to make sure you use them correctly because the last thing you want to do is dry out your skin.

I came up with a list of a few products I have been using to help combat my oily skin and keep it under control. If you have any other products you use please tell me about them in the comments, I would love to try new things.
